Dark and Scary World

It was He, the Word, who said

At the very beginning

“Let there be light”

And there was light.

And yet

Man chose darkness!

Thus,

It was a dark and scary world

To which He Came.

The rich, without a care, took from the poor.

The powerful took from the weak.

The government yielded to wealth.

Judgment was for sale.

The religious suggested that

The poor were poor because of their sin,

And the sick were sick because of their sin,

Or the sin of their fathers.

Justice was rare – and for sale.

As the rich were getting richer

The poor were getting poorer.

The powerful acquired more power

At the expense of the weak.

Nations went easily to war against nation.

Everyone seemed to have only their own

Short term interests in mind.

The future cost of present action

Was not considered.

Profiting from the loss of others was

Considered good business.

Pick an enemy and seek his destruction,

Was the norm.

The religious knew the truth,

But failed to believe it could be.

Faith was weak!

And then,

At just the right time,

Light came into the world!

“The people walking in darkness

Have seen a great light;

On those living in the land of the shadow of death

Light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2

Darkness,

Despair,

And fear no longer hold charge!

Chaotic confusion has been displaced!

And replaced

By

Hope,

Love,

Joy,

Peace,

Patience,

Faith,

Confident Future!

Dependent, not on our works,

But upon His creative, re creative

merciful, graceful work.

“Let there be light”

He said,

And He was the Light!

He is the Light!

He will be the Light!

May He illuminate your days!
